Area Activities

Make Scotsman Point your home away from home while you experience the beautiful Buckhorn area and the Kawartha Lakes. The Ojibwa called it, "the land of bright and shining waters".

Here are just a few of the many things to see and do.

Golf is just up the road at an 18 hole well maintained course, complete with all the amenities and reasonable rates. Three other courses are within 20 minutes and all have green fees of under $50 for 18 holes.

Petroglyphs Provincial Park is just a 45 minute drive away. See aboriginal rock carvings over 600 years old, hike to High Falls (13km) or enjoy the walking trails.

Whetung Ojibwa Art Gallery and Crafts is at the Curve Lake Reserve just across the lake.

Gallery-on-the Lake and the Buckhorn School of Fine Art are in the village of Buckhorn which is 8 km or 5 miles from Scotsman Point.

Arts and Crafts shops and Antique shops are in many of the nearby villages.

The new Canadian Canoe Museum, the Peterborough Liftlocks and the Trent-Severn Waterway Museum, Art Galleries, and more, are in Peterborough, just 45 minutes away.

The Buckhorn winery, Kawartha Country Wines is nearby.

Boat cruises are available on Stoney Lake, Sturgeon Lake and over the Liftlocks in Peterborough.

Horseback trail rides are available at stables that are about an hour's drive from the resort.

Go-carts and more at Wild Water and Wheels near Peterrborough.

Algonquin Provincial Park is just a 2 hour drive north.

Restaurants are within a 10 to 35 minute drive of the resort. The City of Peterborough is about 40 minutes away and there are shopping malls, theatres, museums, art galleries, lots of restaurants and a nice zoo with a large playground.

There are lots of things to see in our area. Contact the Peterborough Kawartha Tourism and Convention Bureau in Peterborough for more information.
