Art Workshops 2010

 

'Arts in the Wild' Spring and Fall Art Workshops are 2-day and 2-night weekend packages with 10 hours of instruction by well known local artists Sandy Cline and Chuck Burns.

 

Classes are designed for beginner to intermediate students, in a relaxed setting.

 

We offer Soapstone Carving, or Landscape Painting in either Watercolour or Acrylics.

 

About our Workshops

All our workshops include cottage accommodation, bedding, instruction, Afternoon Tea on Saturday, evening snack on arrival day.

 

You can enjoy an evening boat tour on Buckhorn Lake, use of canoes and kayak and rowboat as well.

 

Plan to visit the Whetung Ojibwa Centre & Art Gallery at Curve Lake First Nation.

 

Soapstone Carving with Sandy Cline

May 14 to 16 and Oct. 15 to 17, 2010

 

Painting with Chuck Burns

Watercolour June 11 to 13, 2010

Acrylic June 18 to 20 and Oct. 15 to 17, 2010

 

Rates

2-night 2-day Weekend:

Packages from $299 per person if 2 people are sharing a cottage, plus taxes

 

Meals

There is a large supermarket, a Chinese restaurant, a pizzeria, and three other restaurants in the village of Buckhorn, just a 10-minute drive from the resort.

 

We offer a 2-day meal package, which we serve family style, or you can cook your own.

 

The 2-day meal package is $85 per person, plus taxes and gratuities, and includes 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and one dinner. Meal packages must be booked in advance.

 

More features

Arrive any time after noon on the first day and leave in the afternoon of the last day.

 

10 hours of instruction over the 2 days (you can often arrange extra hours for a fee)

 

An evening get-together on the arrival night at about 8 p.m., with homemade muffins and jams, tea, coffee, hot chocolate or juice.

Students can work in the studio until 8 or 9 pm most nights if they wish.

 

Special non-artists Rate:

$175 pp for 2 nights for friends who just want to relax, go canoeing, fishing or golfing.

 

10% discount if 4 friends are sharing a cottage, so get a group together and have a fun weekend away!

 

Extra nights accommodation can be arranged on our special Spring and Fall Midweek Packages which are 25% off our regular per-night rates.

 

Concurrent Workshops

Some soapstone carving and painting workshops run concurrently. These workshops are well-suited to couples and groups interested in different media.

Booking and Registration

Call Scotsman Point Resort at 1-800-267-1310 to book your workshop and mail your cheque for $100 per person for a 2-day workshop, to hold your reservation.

 

A confirmation letter will be sent and a list of supplies needed.

 

Cancellations must be received in writing 30 days prior to arrival and are subject to an administration fee of $20. No refunds for early departures or meals booked and not taken.
